Air Strikes: UK & US jets hit Houthi rebels in Yemen for a 2nd time

The United Kingdom and the United States have unleashed a second wave of air strikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The decisive move comes in retaliation for the insurgents’ relentless attacks on shipping vessels navigating the strategically vital Red Sea.

The Royal Air Force aircraft used Paveway IV precision guided bombs to strike multiple targets at two military sites in the vicinity of Sanaa airfield.

The air strikes hit locations that were being used to enable the continued attacks against international shipping in the Red Sea.

The Pentagon revealed that Monday’s precision strikes successfully targeted eight sites, including an underground storage facility and critical Houthi missile and surveillance installations.

The Iran-backed Houthis have been menacingly zeroing in on ships they claim to be affiliated with Israel and Western nations traversing the Red Sea trade route.

Explosions of considerable magnitude echoed through the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, firmly under Houthi control, as the joint military operation unfolded.

The rebels, undeterred by the international show of force, have vehemently vowed to retaliate following the latest barrage of strikes from the UK and the US.

As geopolitical tensions escalate in the Middle East, this concerted effort by the US and the UK underscores their commitment to safeguarding global trade routes and countering threats from Iran-backed factions.

The reverberations of this military intervention are poised to resonate across the international diplomatic landscape.
