EU Solidarity Fund Delegation Agreement Signed Between Türkiye and the EU


A Bilateral Agreement (Delegation Agreement) regarding the utilisation of the 400 million Euros fund to be provided to Türkiye from the EU Solidarity Fund (EUSF) by the European Union, was signed on 7th February 2024.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay, signed on behalf of Türkiye, with Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira representing the European Commission at a ceremony in Brussels.

The fund, which is to be provided under EUSF to Türkiye by the European Commission, will be used to support reconstruction efforts in the provinces affected by the Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes, which occurred in February 2023.

Coordination of the EUSF in Türkiye will be conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs in cooperation with the Presidency of Strategy and Budget and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, and with the contributions of relevant institutions.

The EU Solidarity Fund is a fund created with the assistance of the EU member states as well as the contribution from the EU budget, in order to finance measures to eliminate the destruction caused by the natural disasters in the member or candidate countries of the Union affected by these disasters

The amount to be provided to Türkiye is the highest amount that the EU has provided until now to a candidate country within the framework of the Solidarity Fund.
