Alternative for Germany (AfD) to Question Deputies Over Alleged Russian Ties

The far-right party “Alternative for Germany” (AfD) plans to interrogate two of its deputies regarding their alleged ties to a pro-Russian influence network uncovered in Europe last week.

According to a statement to Bloomberg by spokesman Daniel Tapp, reported by “European Truth,” the leadership of the political party will speak with Maximilian Krah, the party’s lead candidate for the European Parliament elections in June, and Bundestag deputy Petr Bistron after the Easter holidays.

The AfD spokesperson stated that both Krah and Bistron deny any wrongdoing.

The fact that leading AfD politicians have appeared repeatedly on the Voice of Europe website indicates that “Putin’s friends have repeatedly allowed themselves to become part of the Russian propaganda apparatus,” according to Faeser.

Last week, it was revealed that the Czech Republic had uncovered a pro-Russian network planning operations to spread Russian influence and undermine security in Europe.

In this context, Prague announced sanctions against Viktor Medvedchuk, as well as Ukrainian-born propagandist Artem Marchevsky and the pro-Kremlin right-wing website Voice of Europe.

Additionally, a journalistic investigation found that Petr Bistron, a member of the Bundestag for Alternative for Germany and a candidate for the European Parliament elections from the same party, had received money from a pro-Russian influence network.

Bistron himself has decided to challenge these accusations in court.
