Born in France, photographer Marie Imbert has lived in Japan, the USA -where she studied photography — and is now based in Brussels where she works for the European Commission.
Marie is currently exhibiting in Brussels her astonishing images made on an epic journey by rail across the United States that took her in 30 states and some 17,300 kilometres.
Inside the coaches you really meet the people. I met with Amish folk, I met with veterans, even with a gentleman who had served in the Korean War. I met a tv host going from Fargo to Chicago to make a show. At Birmingham Alabama I found myself the only white passenger on the train. You just let yourself be led by the rails...
The expo, at gallerie mhaata runs until February 14th, and is open Friday to Sunday, 11am-7pm, or by appointment.
