British Intelligence Reports That Russia is Fortifying Port of Novorossiysk Following Strikes on Sevastopol

British intelligence reports indicate that Russia is reinforcing its assets at the port of Novorossiysk in an attempt to defend against potential attacks from Ukraine.

This move comes in the wake of strikes on the port of Sevastopol, which have rendered Novorossiysk critically important for safeguarding the most valuable assets of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Satellite imagery, published on Twitter, reveals that the entrance to the port of Novorossiysk is now partially obstructed by barges, aimed at reducing the likelihood of Ukrainian surface drones breaching the defenses.

The intelligence highlights that following a series of successful strikes by Ukraine on the port of Sevastopol, Novorossiysk has become strategically significant for protecting the assets of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Former commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Viktor Sokolov, was replaced after Ukraine achieved success in utilising surface drones against Russian targets both at sea and in the port.

His successor, Vice Admiral Sergey Pinchuk, presumably sought to enhance the survival chances of Russian ships by implementing additional preventive and defensive measures, including narrowing the passage to the port facilities, according to intelligence sources.
